The Jack Pizzey School of the Year Award

2015 Winner

Meridan State College

Meridan State College has developed an innovative professional development and support network with its program, The Ripple Effect – Teachers Talking Teaching. The school's staff developed the program for teachers to engage their colleagues and identify innovative teaching and learning strategies. This included the introduction of a Numeracy Professional Learning Team which identifies, develops and implements strategies for improving the teaching and learning of numeracy skills.

The team's popularity and the passion of teachers for professional development are reflected in the high number of requests from staff to participate in the program and is an inspiration to other Queensland state schools.
